About me – Erin Davidson
I am a Melbourne-based writer who works in fundraising. I’m also a volunteer member of the Beyond Blue Speakers Bureau. I share my story to raise awareness and understanding of anxiety and depression in Australia and to reduce the associated stigma.
Other volunteering experiences have seen me do everything from cleaning up popcorn at a film festival to presenting gold medals on international television.
I have learnt the pros and cons of different community fundraising activities as part of charity challenges to Everest Base Camp and Mt Kilimanjaro.
I aim to encourage people to embrace the joy of giving and discover how it can lead to a richer life.
In 2018, I became an actual philanthropist by establishing The Illuminate Fund. The aim of the fund is to help health-based charities improve their environmental sustainability.
I recognise Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people as the First Nations Peoples of Australia and acknowledge and pay my respects to the past, present and emerging Traditional Custodians of the land on which we live and work and recognise their connection to country, community and culture.
